If you didn’t believe us how about the Times?

This seems to be an interesting day in our community.  After 18 months the Times is on the bandwagon.  Perhaps with fewer dollars to spend on private schools it is now apparent that people need quality public schools-with academic rigor, not social programs.   The economy may have taken away the school choices that have allowed some to disregard the academic performance of their “community center”.

It is also interesting to wonder if perhaps the editorial board is a bit frustrated with the lack of critical reporting in the news division.  Notice that these scores should have been coming out years ago from the news reporting division.  It is apparently so bad that now the editorial board is forced to take up reporting the news.   Scores in our community are down, they’ve been down, and our leadership is less than enthusiastic about changing the status quo.

After all why would they be motivate to change 13 years of mediocrity when the strongest cadre of challengers this community has seen, were soundly defeated in November.  It is unlikely that four candidtes interested in change will come together again any time soon.

This community has made their choice and we can rest assured that all winds of change are at a standstill.  We hear mention of “curriculum reviews” better understanding of test scores, we’ll use grant money to study it further, etc. etc.

These are nothing more than feel-good cross walks to nowhere.
